Second grade has a lot of review, so that students truly master all the skills that were taught in first grade. Along with reviewing, your child will be learning to recognize familiar words more rapidly, reading new words, adding and subtracting faster, composing more complex sentences, spelling many new words, and increasing their vocabulary. Remember, second grade will have more homework and responsibility for your child; guide them through these daily tasks.
